CASE STUDY 2

Activity: Overseas Offsite – (Majorca - Sept 2007)
Rationale: Conference & Team Build
Client: Leading City Investment
Delegates: 40

The Brief:

Poisson Rouge is often tasked with planning every aspect of an overseas offsite from choosing the destination and venue to planning and managing all the logistics, meeting content and team events. In this particular instance the destination had already been decided and the hotel sourced so we were asked to come up with ideas and activities to bring the event to life and communicate / re-enforce key messages. In addition to this the client used our expertise in working overseas to manage the event logistics and organise an offsite gala dinner in Palma. Background to the Event: The infrastructure team within the company had recently gone through a restructure and the event was intended to act as a platform to present the new structure and discuss how best to roll it out. The key message was One Team – One Goal.

The Agenda:

The agenda was devised to combine an initial meeting for information update, results review and future planning with a strong emphasis throughout the offsite on teambuilding, bonding, celebration of success and reward.

Main Team Activity – The Art Challenge:

The Poisson Rouge Art Challenge is specifically designed to get some times disparate groups to work together effectively as one unified team. The process starts with the group being split into teams. Despite the natural instinct for teams to compete with each other they soon work out that talking to people in other teams, sharing best practice and centrally co-ordinating their efforts is ultimately the best way to ensure success.

Result:

The challenge worked brilliantly ticking all the right boxes. The picture was fantastic, one of the best we have seen which is a credit to the people taking part. They were genuinely astounded by how good it looked and in fact it is now proudly hanging in their offices, a testament to a great event and a great team.

Additional Team Activity

On the second afternoon we organised a “Metropoly” Challenges (which is effectively a treasure hunt in which delegates get to play Monopoly for real) around the city of Palma. This activity gave the delegates the chance to get out in the fresh air, have some fun and see the city.

Our client summed up his feelings in his own inimitable style after the event with the following succinct email about us and about our operation director:

“Your boy done good - Excellent event. ...I'm a very, very satisfied customer.”
